Round one
180°F

Cedar sauna

Dry heat in a hand-built cedar room with a wood stove and a window onto the trees. Fifteen to twenty minutes.

Round two
45°F

Ice bath

Spring-fed and mountain-cold, with the peaks straight ahead. Two to three minutes is all it takes.

Then you do it again. And once more.

The practice

One session, three rounds.

Ninety minutes at your own pace. Here's what a session actually looks like.

01

Heat

Settle into the sauna. Let your heart rate climb, your muscles let go, and your head go quiet. Leave when you want to, not when you can't.

15 to 20 min
Cold mountain lake at dusk
02

Cold

Walk to the tub. Breathe out slowly and get all the way in. The first thirty seconds are the hardest thing you'll do all week. Then it gets calm.

2 to 3 min
Wooden cabin in the Cascade forest
03

Rest

Robe on, tea in hand, feet up on the deck. Let your body figure out what just happened. This part matters as much as the other two.

10 min
Snow-capped mountain peaks above the clouds
04

Repeat

Two or three rounds is the sweet spot. You'll leave clear-headed, loose, and a little bit smug about it.

Before you visit

A few things to know.

i

Arrive hydrated

Plenty of water before, no alcohol for 24 hours, and eat lightly. A full stomach and heat do not get along.

ii

What to bring

Swimwear or a towel wrap. We provide robes, towels, and sandals. Leave jewelry at home, metal gets hot.

iii

Getting here

Thirty minutes east of Seattle on I-90. Turn off at North Bend. We send directions and the gate code after you book.

"The best heat-cold experience I've had outside of Scandinavia. Stepping into that ice bath with the mountain view is unreal."

Maya K.Seattle

"Came up from Bellevue for a morning session. Left feeling clearer than I have in months. Like a Nordic retreat in our backyard."

James R.Bellevue

"We did the couples session. Fire in the stove, snow outside, ice bath under the stars. Close enough for a day trip, far enough to feel away."
